The Balmoral Group recently made its first project presentation for work with NASA’s Earth Observations Applied Sciences group at the Annual Meeting in Washington DC. The focus of the project is using Earth observations (satellite data) for valuing ecosystem services, and defining practical means to incorporate these values into resource planning and decision making in the coastal environment. The Balmoral Group will conduct a series of workshops in Gulf Coast states to identify how planners assess ecosystem services today, and where earth observations data can augment or improve current processes.
